The PLANET IVC-234GT Industrial Gigabit Ethernet extender provides long-distance Ethernet connectivity over existing coaxial or RJ11 (telephone) cables and delivers four 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ45 ports for local devices. Housed in a slim, metal IP30-rated enclosure, the transmitter & receiver pair supports VDSL2 technology to achieve a total duplex throughput of up to 300 Mbps and extend Ethernet links up to 1.2 km, enabling migration from analog to full digital networks without installing new UTP cabling.

Advantages

The IVC-234GT offers selectable asymmetric and symmetric VDSL2 modes to optimize upstream and downstream throughput, supports long-reach Ethernet over coaxial or RJ11 cabling to avoid costly rewiring, and provides gigabit copper ports for high-speed local connections. Its compact metal housing and DIP-switch-configurable CPE/CO modes simplify installation and management in industrial or surveillance environments. The device also supports ADSL2+ fallback for compatibility with legacy ISP services.

Suitable for

  • Long-distance IP camera and surveillance installations
  • Extending network connectivity to wireless access points and NVRs beyond 100 m
  • Digital signage and IPTV delivery over existing coaxial cable
  • Distance learning video distribution and electronic billboards

Key specifications

  • Model: PLANET IVC-234GT (MPN: IVC-234GT)
  • Data rate (VDSL2): up to 300 Mbps duplex (asymmetric: downstream up to 200 Mbps / upstream up to 100 Mbps; symmetric: 150/150 Mbps)
  • Maximum extension distance: up to 1,200 m (3,937 ft) over coaxial or RJ11
  • Ports: 1 BNC, 1 RJ11 (VDSL2 line), 4 x 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ45
  • Standards: IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3ab
  • Power consumption: typical 5.7 W; input current 0.4 A
  • Dimensions (W x D x H): 32 mm x 135 mm x 87.8 mm
  • Weight: 0.185 kg
  • Housing: metal, blue

How to use

Install one IVC-234GT unit at each end of the link and set one device to CO (central office) mode and the other to CPE (customer premises equipment) mode using the built-in DIP switch. Connect the existing coaxial cable or RJ11 telephone wire between the two units and plug local devices (IP cameras, wireless APs, NVRs, digital signage) into the RJ45 gigabit ports. Choose symmetric or asymmetric VDSL2 mode based on the required upstream/downstream balance. For networks still using ADSL2+ service, the unit can fall back to ADSL2+ rates when needed.

Recommendations

Use the IVC-234GT pair to reuse existing coaxial or RJ11 infrastructure where running new UTP is impractical. Select asymmetric mode for higher downstream throughput in short-range links and symmetric mode when balanced upstream and downstream performance is required. Verify cable condition and length to ensure the desired VDSL2 data rates; for distances under 100 m standard UTP remains an option.
