The PLANET GSD-2022P is an unmanaged 16-port Gigabit Ethernet switch with integrated Power over Ethernet (PoE) and two additional Gigabit uplink ports plus two SFP slots. Designed for PoE-powered devices, it delivers a total PoE budget of 185 W and supports IEEE 802.3af (up to 15.4 W) and IEEE 802.3at PoE+ (up to 32 W) on the data ports while providing 1 Gbps transmission on the Gigabit RJ-45 and SFP interfaces.

Advantages

The GSD-2022P combines data switching and centralized power delivery in a single rack-mountable unit, reducing deployment time and eliminating the need for separate AC wiring to powered devices. It supports long-distance fiber uplinks via two SFP slots, a high switching capacity for efficient traffic handling and a MAC address table suitable for medium-sized deployments. Built-in PoE management features include per-port PD alive check and multiple operation modes to extend reach beyond the 100 m Ethernet limit when required.

Suitable for

  • PoE IP surveillance systems with up to 16 cameras
  • Wireless access point deployment in small-to-medium networks
  • VoIP phone systems requiring centralized PoE
  • Uplink to backbone switches and NVRs using SFP or Gigabit copper

Key specifications

  • Ports: 16 x 10/100/1000BASE-T PoE ports, 2 x extra Gigabit TP ports, 2 x 1000BASE-X SFP slots
  • PoE budget: 185 W total; supports IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at (PoE+)
  • Switching capacity: 40 Gbit/s
  • MAC address table: 8,000 entries
  • Operation modes: Standard, VLAN (port-based), Extend (10 Mbps per port up to 250 m with 20 W PoE)
  • Weight: 1.81 kg
  • Form factor: rack-mountable unmanaged switch
  • Standards: IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3ab, 802.3z, 802.3x, 802.3af, 802.3at, 802.3az

How to use

Install the GSD-2022P in a standard equipment rack or on a stable shelf and connect network devices to the RJ-45 PoE ports. Use the SFP slots for long-distance fiber uplinks to the backbone switch or monitoring center. Configure the DIP switch to the desired mode: Standard for normal PoE+ operation, VLAN to isolate camera traffic, or Extend to provide up to 20 W over a single UTP cable at 10 Mbps for distances up to 250 m. Connect power and verify PoE delivery to attached devices; the switch will handle power negotiation automatically according to IEEE 802.3af/at protocols.

Recommendations

For IP surveillance, connect each camera to a dedicated PoE port and use the VLAN mode when you need to limit multicast or broadcast traffic between cameras. Use fiber SFP uplinks for long-distance connections to the NVR or central switch. If a device is installed beyond 100 m over UTP cable, switch to Extend mode to maintain power delivery up to 250 m at reduced data speed.
