Network Splitter PLANET POE-161S

The PLANET IEEE POE-161S 802.3at Gigabit Power over Ethernet Plus Splitter converts 52–56V DC power delivered over an Ethernet cable into selectable 5V or 12V DC outputs while passing through Gigabit Ethernet data. Compliant with the IEEE 802.3at PoE Plus standard and supporting up to 25.5 W input power, the POE-161S is a compact white plastic splitter (95 × 70 × 25 mm) designed to power higher-demand network devices without a separate power outlet.

Advantages

The POE-161S complies with IEEE 802.3at, provides selectable 5V/12V DC output via a DIP switch, and supports passive 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet connections. It enables simultaneous delivery of data and power over a single RJ45 cable up to 100 meters when used with IEEE 802.3at PoE Plus injectors, switches, or media converters. The device is compact, FCC and CE certified, and simplifies deployment of higher-power devices by removing the need for separate electrical cabling.

Suitable for

• PTZ network cameras and speed dome cameras
• Color touch-screen IP telephones and VoIP devices
• High-power wireless access points (multi-channel 11a/ac/b/g/n)
• Other network devices requiring 5V or 12V DC and up to 25.5 W

How to use

Install the POE-161S between an IEEE 802.3at PoE Plus injector (or PoE Plus switch/media converter) and the powered device. Use a single Cat5e/Cat6 Ethernet cable to carry power and data from the PoE injector to the splitter; the splitter separates the data and provides the selected DC output via its DC plug to the device. Set the DIP switch to the required 5V or 12V output before connecting the powered device and ensure the injector or switch can supply sufficient power (up to 25.5 W).

Recommendations

Use the POE-161S with IEEE 802.3at-compliant injectors, switches, or media converters for reliable operation, verify cable quality (Cat5e or Cat6) for Gigabit links, keep the cable run under 100 m between injector and splitter, and confirm the powered device accepts the selected output voltage (5V or 12V).
