PLANET GSD-1002M is a managed desktop Gigabit switch with 8 10/100/1000Base-T copper ports and 2 100/1000Base-X SFP fiber ports. Designed for reliable full-Gigabit backbones and fiber connection to remote networks, it supports dual power input and a 20 Gbit/s switching fabric. The switch provides advanced L2–L4 functions, IPv4/IPv6 management, Quality of Service, access control and secure management features suitable for business and SOHO network expansion or upgrade.

Advantages

The GSD-1002M combines copper and SFP fiber interfaces in a compact desktop form factor, enabling Fiber-to-the-Desktop (FTTD) deployment and long-distance fiber connectivity. It delivers managed switching with IPv4/IPv6 support, 20 Gbit/s switching capacity, an 8000-entry MAC table and PoE capability on its RJ-45 ports. Additional reliability features include Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), auto loop protection and a dual power input design for power failover.

Suitable for (tasks / use cases)

  • Extending a Gigabit backbone to remote floors or buildings via SFP fiber
  • Small and medium business edge switching with IPv6/IPv4 management
  • FTTD (Fiber to the Desktop) deployments requiring compact fiber-enabled switches
  • Environments needing redundancy and fast recovery (MSTP, dual power input)

Key specifications

  • Ports: 8 × 10/100/1000Base-T, 2 × 100/1000Base-X SFP
  • Switching capacity: 20 Gbit/s
  • MAC address table: 8000 entries
  • Management: IPv4/IPv6, L2–L4 features, QoS, ACL
  • Standards: IEEE 802.1Q, 802.1p, 802.1s, 802.1x, 802.3/3u/3ab/3z/3ad/3af/3at
  • Power: Dual power input (PoE In + 12V DC) with hardware failover
  • Form factor: Managed desktop switch, weight approx. 0.396 kg

How to use

Install the GSD-1002M on a desktop or in a communication closet near fiber access. Insert appropriate SFP modules (100Base-FX or 1000Base-SX/LX) into the SFP slots to connect fiber links, and connect copper devices to the RJ-45 Gigabit ports. Configure management settings over the IPv4/IPv6 web/CLI interface to set VLANs, QoS policies, ACLs and Spanning Tree parameters. If using PoE, verify PoE power source and cabling; the dual power inputs provide automatic failover if one source fails.

Recommendations

For reliable fiber connections, use compatible SFP modules and verify link speed (100/1000 Mbps) per module specification. Keep firmware updated and configure MSTP and loop protection when deploying in redundant or mesh topologies to ensure predictable recovery and uptime.
