The PLANET GS-4210-16P2S is a managed L2/L4 Gigabit Ethernet switch with 16 Gigabit PoE+ ports and 2 SFP uplink slots. Designed for small and medium businesses, it delivers IEEE 802.3at PoE+ power on all RJ-45 ports, advanced Layer 2 switching, IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack management, and a rack-mountable 1U form factor. The switch provides a 36 Gbit/s switching capacity, an 8000-entry MAC address table and multiple security and traffic-management features for stable office and surveillance networks.

Advantages

The GS-4210-16P2S combines PoE+ power delivery on 16 Gigabit ports with Layer 2/Layer 4 switching capabilities and cybersecurity features such as SSHv2, TLS and SNMPv3. It supports redundant ring (G.8032 ERPS) and MSTP for fast recovery, PoE management functions including PD alive check, scheduled power recycling, PoE scheduling and usage monitoring, plus an Extend mode for longer PoE distances. Two SFP slots enable fiber uplink for extended reach, and the device offers multiple management interfaces (web, CLI, SNMP) for flexible administration.

Suitable for

  • Small and medium business office networks requiring PoE-powered devices
  • IP surveillance deployments with managed PoE camera power control
  • Wireless access point networks and VoIP telephony with QoS needs
  • Environments requiring redundant links and fast network recovery

Key specifications

  • Ports: 16 × 10/100/1000BASE-T with 802.3at PoE+ on all ports; 2 × 100/1000BASE-X SFP
  • Switching capacity: 36 Gbit/s
  • MAC address table: 8000 entries
  • PoE: IEEE 802.3at/802.3af compliant, PoE management (PD alive check, scheduled recycle, PoE schedule, usage monitoring, Extend mode)
  • Layer 2/4 features: Link aggregation, 802.1Q/Q-in-Q, MSTP, LLDP, IGMP/MLD snooping
  • Security: DHCP Snooping, IP Source Guard, Dynamic ARP Inspection, 802.1X, RADIUS, TACACS+, ACL (L2–L4), SSHv2/TLS/SNMPv3
  • Management: Web GUI, CLI (console/Telnet), SNMP
  • Form factor: 1U rack-mountable; weight: 2.8 kg
  • Standards: IEEE 802.3/802.3u/802.3ab/802.3az/802.3x/802.3ad/802.1Q/802.1p/802.1x/802.1s/802.1w/802.1ab

How to use

Mount the switch in a standard 19-inch rack and connect uplink fiber modules to the SFP slots if required. Connect powered devices to the RJ-45 PoE ports; PoE functions can be configured via the web GUI, CLI or SNMP management tools. Use the PoE schedule and PD alive check to automate power recycling for cameras and access points, and configure VLANs, QoS and ACLs to segment traffic and enforce security policies. For redundancy, enable ERPS or MSTP and configure link aggregation for trunking.

Recommendations

For surveillance and wireless deployments, enable PD alive check and scheduled power recycling to reduce device downtime. Use PoE schedule to disable ports outside business hours for energy savings and increased security. When extending fiber links, choose SFP transceivers that match the desired multimode or single-mode distance.
