Mounting kit Noctua NM-AM5/4-MP78 CHROMAX.BLACK Black AM4 AM5

The Noctua NM-AM5/4-MP78 CHROMAX.BLACK is a SecuFirm2™ mounting upgrade kit that enables Noctua CPU coolers with a 78mm mounting pitch to be used on AMD AM5 and AM4 sockets. The kit uses the standard AMD backplate preinstalled on the motherboard and features all-black mounting bars and thumb screws to match Noctua's chromax.black line while maintaining the original premium coating and finish.

Advantages

The SecuFirm2™ design provides proven long-term stability and precise manufacturing for reliable retention. High-grade coil springs ensure optimal contact pressure without guesswork or risk of over-tightening. The chromax.black version keeps a consistent black appearance with the same durable coating as the original parts. Installation is simplified by using the stock AMD backplate, reducing additional parts and waste.

Suitable for

• Noctua CPU coolers with 78mm mounting pitch that require AM4 or AM5 support
• Users who want to upgrade an existing Noctua heatsink to AMD Ryzen platforms
• Systems where a black stealth aesthetic is desired to match chromax.black coolers

How to use

Confirm that your Noctua cooler uses a 78mm mounting pitch and that your motherboard has the AMD stock backplate installed. Follow the included SecuFirm2™ instructions to replace the existing cooler's mounting parts with the NM-AM5/4-MP78 components: remove the old mounting bars and screws, align the new chromax.black mounting bars to the cooler and motherboard, fit the coil springs and thumb screws, then tighten evenly until the specified contact pressure is reached. Reinstall the fan(s) and verify secure seating and proper fan orientation.

Recommendations

Use this kit only with Noctua coolers specified for 78mm mounting pitch and follow Noctua’s compatibility list. Tighten screws evenly to achieve correct contact pressure and avoid excessive force. If unsure about compatibility, refer to Noctua’s detailed compatibility information before purchasing.
