Fan Noctua NF-A8

The Noctua NF-A8 5V PWM is a premium 80 mm fan designed for 5V applications that require PWM speed control. It uses Noctua’s AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frame, Flow Acceleration Channels and other aerodynamic measures to provide efficient airflow with low noise. The fan features Noctua’s Smooth Commutation Drive (SCD) and the second-generation SSO2 bearing for stable, smooth operation and long-term reliability. The package includes a USB power adaptor cable, OmniJoin™ adaptor set and a 30 cm extension cable, and the product comes with a 6-year manufacturer’s warranty.

How to use

Connect the NF-A8 5V PWM to a 5V power source using the supplied USB power adaptor cable or an appropriate proprietary header via the OmniJoin™ adaptor set. Ensure the fan is never connected to 12V sources (for example typical PC motherboard 12V headers) as this will damage the fan. Use the PWM control signal to regulate speed where supported by the host device. Mount the fan using standard 80 mm screw holes and the integrated anti-vibration pads to minimise vibration transfer.

Recommendations

Use only 5V power sources or the included USB adaptor; verify connector polarity before final installation. For best acoustic performance, install the fan in a location with minimal air intake obstructions and secure mounting to reduce vibration.
