With the InLine® interface card, PCIe x1 to 2x PCI 32-bit, you can expand modern computers with two classic PCI slots. The system consists of a PCIe main card with ASMedia ASM1083 bridge chip and an add-on card connected via a 60 cm cable. This makes the card ideal for continuing to use older but functionally relevant PCI expansion cards – for example, in industrial PCs, test systems, or special applications where PCIe is not a substitute.
The card is driverless and compatible with a wide range of operating systems, including all Windows versions from XP onwards and Linux kernels from version 2.4 onwards. Power is supplied via a standardized SATA 15-pin connector, which allows for easy integration into existing setups. The PCI signals are reliably transmitted to the add-on card via the connection cable, which has two 32-bit slots.

How to use

Install the main card into an available PCIe x1 slot on the motherboard, connect the add-on card using the supplied 60 cm cable and supply power to the main card via the SATA 15-pin power cable. The operating system should detect the adapter automatically; then install and configure any legacy PCI expansion cards in the add-on card’s slots according to the cards’ documentation.

Recommendations

For reliable operation, connect the SATA power cable to a stable power source and secure both cards inside the chassis to avoid strain on connectors. Verify operating system compatibility with the ASMedia ASM1083 bridge when using older systems and place the add-on card where it does not obstruct airflow or other components.
