The Safescan SD-4617 is a compact, robust cash drawer designed for medium-traffic retail venues, school and office cafeterias, and clubhouse cantinas. Constructed with a steel housing and a shatterproof PVC tray, the SD-4617 combines a narrow form factor with practical storage: six adjustable banknote slots, eight coin cups and a spacious media slot for coupons and credit-card slips. The drawer includes a two-position lock and an RJ12 port for automatic opening from receipt printers or POS systems; an RJ12 cable is included.

How to use

Install the SD-4617 on a stable, level surface near your POS terminal. Connect the RJ12 cable to the drawer and the POS printer or cash register if automatic opening is required; alternatively operate the two-position lock for manual opening. Arrange banknotes and coins in the adjustable slots and coin cups, and place non-cash media such as slips or coupons in the media slot. The lid opens to 80° for unobstructed access to the tray.

Recommendations

For faster end-of-shift counting, use the SD-4617 with an optional spare 4617T tray, lockable 4617L lid or the Safescan 6185 money scale. Removable coin cups (4617CC) can be weighed directly on the 6185 without recalibration to speed up till counting.
