LevelOne 8-Port Gigabit PoE Switch, 802.3at/af PoE, 240W

The LevelOne GEP-0822 is an 8-port Gigabit PoE switch providing eight 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 ports with IEEE 802.3af/at (PoE/PoE+) support and a total PoE power budget of 240W (up to 30W per port). It supports Energy Efficient Ethernet (IEEE 802.3az), 9K jumbo frames and a MAC address table with 8K entries. Rack-mount hardware is included for installation in standard 19-inch cabinets.

How to use

Install the GEP-0822 in a standard 19-inch rack using the included kit or place it on a flat surface. Connect each network device to the switch using Cat5e or higher Ethernet cables. PoE-capable devices will receive power automatically if they comply with IEEE 802.3af/at; non-standard devices are detected and protected. Configure connected devices from your network management tools as needed. Ensure the total power draw of connected PoE devices does not exceed the 240W budget.

Recommendations

Use Cat5e or Cat6 cables for reliable Gigabit performance and verify per-port power requirements of connected devices to avoid exceeding the 240W total budget. For installations with many high-power PoE devices, plan power distribution accordingly and allow adequate ventilation around the unit.
