ATEN 8-Port USB DVI Dual Link KVM Switch with Audio

The ATEN 8-Port USB DVI Dual Link with Audio (CS1788) KVM switch provides centralized control of up to eight computers from a single USB keyboard, USB mouse and DVI-I console. Designed for environments that require high-resolution video, it supports DVI-I dual-link output up to 2560 x 1600 at 60 Hz and offers audio support. The unit is housed in a durable black metal enclosure with a compact rack-friendly footprint (437.2 mm x 161.2 mm x 44 mm) and typical power consumption of 8.26 W operating from a 5.3 V DC power source.

Advantages

The CS1788 consolidates peripherals and video signals to reduce desk clutter and simplify multi-computer control. It supports USB keyboard and mouse interfaces for straightforward peripheral compatibility, DVI-I dual-link video for high-resolution displays, and a robust metal chassis for reliable long-term use. The switch can be cascaded and stacked to expand the number of controlled systems and displays without changing the primary console, enabling scalable deployment in IT and professional monitoring scenarios.

Suitable for

• Server rooms and IT management stations controlling multiple servers
• Design, post-production and visualization workstations requiring high‑resolution DVI output
• Control rooms and monitoring stations with multi-computer setups
• Environments that need scalable KVM solutions via cascading and multi-display stacking

How to use

Install the CS1788 in a rack or place it on a stable surface and connect the supplied power adapter. Plug the console keyboard, mouse and DVI monitor into the front or designated console ports and connect each target computer using compatible USB and DVI cables. Use the local front-panel controls, hotkeys from the keyboard, or on-screen display (if available) to switch between connected computers. For larger installations, follow ATEN’s cascading and stacking instructions to extend control to additional switches and to configure multi-display monitoring.

Recommendations

Use certified DVI dual-link cables and quality USB peripheral cables to ensure full resolution and responsive control. When deploying cascaded or multi-display configurations, plan cable lengths and rack placement to minimise signal degradation and ensure adequate ventilation for the metal chassis.
