The EK-Quantum Magnitude 1700 is a bespoke CPU water block by EK Water Blocks designed for Intel® 12th Generation Core processors (socket 1700). It pairs a nickel-plated copper cold plate with a nickel-plated brass top and a CNC-machined brass insert to deliver high thermal transfer with low flow restriction. The block’s enlarged fin array and 0.40 mm microchannels with 0.26 mm microfins increase cooling surface area while keeping a compact footprint compatible with small form-factor motherboards. The 1700-specific insert and cold plate geometry direct coolant flow evenly over the CPU die, and the insert is reversible to allow easier tube routing.

How to use

Install the mounting mechanism onto the motherboard in accordance with the supplied hardware and EK’s mounting instructions for socket 1700. Apply the included Thermal Grizzly Hydronaut thermal paste to the CPU IHS, fit the EK-Quantum Magnitude 1700 so the cold plate contacts the CPU, and secure the block using the supplied springs, screws, and washers to the recommended mounting pressure. If needed, rotate the brass insert 180° to change inlet and outlet ports for preferred tube routing. Connect tubing and fittings compatible with the EK-Quantum Torque or other matching fittings, then pressure-test and fill the loop following standard liquid-cooling procedures.

Recommendations

Use the stock jet plate for general cooling setups; consider testing alternative jet plates or fine-tuning flow rates for optimal performance. Replace or upgrade interchangeable frames separately if you require specific aesthetics or D-RGB diffusion. Ensure leak testing after installation and use corrosion-inhibiting coolant compatible with nickel-plated copper and brass components.
