The DeLOCK 42018 is a compact aluminium enclosure for a single M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe SSD. It connects to a PC or laptop via Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 or USB‑C (USB4™ compatible) and features a silver metal housing with cooling fins to help maintain optimal memory temperature. The enclosure supports up to 40 Gbit/s transfer rate depending on the host device and uses a USB to NVMe controller; on USB Gen 2x2 ports the effective transfer rate is limited to 10 Gbps.

How to use

Open the enclosure following the captive opening mechanism, insert a compatible M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe SSD into the M.2 slot and secure it according to the enclosure’s tool‑free mechanism. Close the housing and connect the enclosure to the host computer with a USB‑C cable into a USB4/Thunderbolt or USB‑C port. The host operating system should recognise the NVMe SSD as an external drive; if necessary, initialise or format the SSD in the OS disk management utility before first use.

Recommendations

For maximum performance, connect the enclosure to a USB4 or Thunderbolt 3/4 port. When using a USB Gen 2x2 port, expect transfer rates limited to 10 Gbps due to the USB to NVMe controller. Ensure adequate ventilation around the enclosure to support heat dissipation during sustained transfers.
