Smart Attachment Type 2 is an intelligent Type 2 socket adapter for the NRGkick charging system, designed for connection to Type 2 charging stations. The adapter supports a maximum current of 32 A (up to 22 kW) and is compatible with the patented high-level safety connector system of the NRGkick. Delivery began in summer 2021 and items are dispatched from week 35 in order of receipt.

Advantages

The Smart Attachment provides per-phase temperature monitoring and connection overheating protection, preventing dangerous situations by reducing charging current automatically if excessive heat is detected. The design eliminates arcing when the plug is separated during charging by interrupting current flow before contacts separate. The adapter detects incorrect socket wiring and prevents charging while signalling the fault via LEDs on the charging unit and Connector Unit. An additional LED on the Connector Unit shows the attachment and unit status. The connector offers secure engagement with a soft-component grip for easy handling, and the NRGkick recognises Smart Attachments automatically to ensure the charging current does not exceed the attachment’s approved limit and national regulations.

How to use

Attach the Smart Attachment Type 2 to the NRGkick Connector Unit according to the NRGkick instructions, then connect the adapter to a Type 2 charging station socket. The NRGkick will automatically recognise the Smart Attachment and regulate charging current within the approved limits. Monitor the LED indicators on the Connector Unit and charging unit for status and fault signals. If the unit detects excessive temperature, incorrect wiring, or other issues, it will halt or reduce charging automatically.

Use the Smart Attachment only with compatible NRGkick Connector Units and Type 2 charging stations. Ensure sockets and station connections are in good condition and comply with local electrical regulations. If LED fault indications appear, stop charging and inspect the connection or consult a qualified electrician.
