Robot Vacuum Cleaner Dreame L40 Ultra AE Black

The Dreame L40 Ultra AE Black is a robot vacuum cleaner designed for mixed dry and wet cleaning with a 4.5 L total dust capacity and a combi dust container plus dust bag base. It combines powerful suction, compact dimensions (35 cm diameter, 97 mm height) and a 5200 mAh battery that provides up to 180 minutes of runtime, enabling coverage of up to 168 m² while remaining lightweight at 4 kg.

Advantages

The L40 Ultra AE offers up to 19,000 Pa of suction for effective dry cleaning and a main brush with an anti-hair entanglement system suitable for homes with wool and pet hair. It supports hot-water washing at 75°C with warm-air drying, automatic detergent delivery, and advanced navigation including laser mapping and a 3D scanner to recognise floor obstacles and clean around them with minimal clearance. The device also supports camera video broadcast operation and full self-service operation via its dust bag base.

Suitable for

• Homes with mixed hard floors and low to medium-height carpets
• Households with pets or long hair where anti-entanglement brush is useful
• Users who want long autonomous cleaning sessions (up to 180 minutes)
• Situations requiring hot-water mopping and drying

When it may not be suitable

The Dreame L40 Ultra AE is compact but may be less suitable for homes with very high-pile carpets or obstacles taller than its carpet traversal height. It is not described as having an extendable nozzle, and some environments that require very narrow-gap access or extremely tall threshold crossing may limit its movement.

Key specifications

• Suction power: up to 19,000 Pa
• Total dust capacity: 4.5 L (combi dust container plus dust bag base)
• Battery: Li-ion 5200 mAh, runtime up to 180 minutes
• Coverage per charge: up to 168 m²
• Dimensions: diameter 35 cm, height 97 mm; weight 4 kg
• Wet mopping: hot-water washing up to 75°C with warm-air drying
• Main brush: anti-hair entanglement system
• Navigation: laser navigation, 3D scanner, object recognition (up to 120 object types)
• Garbage bin capacity at base: 3.2 L
• Carpet traversal height: up to 1.5 cm

How to use

Charge the robot before first use, place it on a flat docking base and set up the dust bag base according to the included instructions. Use the companion app or onboard controls to start mapping and select cleaning modes. For wet mopping, fill the detergent reservoir and enable automatic detergent delivery; the unit can perform hot-water washing and will dry with warm air after washing. Empty the combi dust container or let the base collect debris into the dust bag as recommended, and perform regular maintenance on the main brush and sensors to maintain performance.

What to consider before purchase

• Check floor and carpet heights against the 1.5 cm traversal capability
• Ensure space under furniture is at least 97 mm for the robot to pass
• Confirm the 4.5 L total dust capacity and 3.2 L base bag meet your cleaning interval needs
• Verify hot-water mopping and automatic detergent delivery match your cleaning preferences

Recommendations

Place small objects out of the robot’s path when possible, keep edges and thresholds clear for easier navigation, and run an initial mapping session so the laser and 3D scanner can build an accurate map. Regularly clean the main brush and empty or replace the dust bag at the base to maintain suction and mopping efficiency.
