The Veracity VHW-HWPS-B (HIGHWIRE POWERSTAR) is a network media converter that lets you deliver 100 Mbit/s Ethernet and up to 25 W of Power over Ethernet (PoE) over existing coaxial cable. It enables fast upgrade of legacy coax installations to support IP cameras without running new cable, providing a BASE unit that injects PoE onto the coax and a CAMERA unit that extracts PoE and delivers full PoE Plus power to the camera.

How to use

Install a HIGHWIRE POWERSTAR BASE unit at the network/PoE source and connect its Ethernet RJ-45 port to your switch or PoE injector. Run the existing coaxial cable between the BASE and the CAMERA unit. Plug the CAMERA unit into the IP camera using the RJ-45 output; the CAMERA unit will deliver PoE to the camera. If PoE is not present on the network side or additional power is required, connect an optional local power supply to the BASE or CAMERA unit as shown in the product documentation. No special configuration or measurement is required; the devices operate plug-and-play.

Recommendations
