PLANET GS-6311-48T6X is a Layer 3 managed Ethernet switch designed for enterprise backbone and data center networking. How to use

Install the GS-6311-48T6X in a standard 19-inch rack and connect uplink optics or copper to aggregation/core switches or servers. Configure basic Layer 2 settings (VLANs, port speed, LACP) via the web interface or CLI, then enable routing (static routes or RIP/OSPF) for inter-VLAN or inter-subnet traffic. Set multicast and IGMP/MLD snooping for efficient multicast distribution, and apply ACLs, 802.1x and DHCP Snooping to secure edge ports.

Recommendations

For best results in enterprise and data center environments, use 10G SFP+ modules for uplinks to aggregation/core switches, enable MSTP or ERPS for ring protection, and apply WRR and QoS policies to prioritise VoIP and video traffic while deploying DHCP Snooping and IP Source Guard to protect against IP spoofing.
