Handheld data collection device CIPHERLAB RS38 2D imager, 8GB RAM, 128GB flash

The CIPHERLAB RS38 handheld data collection device combines a 2D imager with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal flash storage in a compact, portable body. Intended for inventory control, logistics and field operations, the RS38 captures barcodes and stores records locally for later synchronization. The device supports rapid data capture, basic on-device processing and continuous operation during on-site tasks, helping maintain accuracy and traceability in mobile workflows.

Advantages

The RS38 provides reliable 2D barcode scanning with a compact form factor that fits handheld operation. With 8GB RAM and 128GB flash, it accommodates larger local databases and reduces dependence on immediate network access. The device design balances scanning performance, local storage capacity and battery-powered portability to support prolonged use in warehouses, retail floors or field environments.

Suitable for

• Inventory counts and stock reconciliation in warehouses and retail stores
• Parcel and shipment scanning in logistics and distribution centers
• Field service data collection and asset tracking
• Point-of-sale adjunct scanning and mobile merchandising tasks

Key specifications

• 2D imager for QR codes, Data Matrix and standard 1D barcodes
• 8GB system memory for responsive on-device processing
• 128GB internal flash for local data storage and application files
• Compact handheld form factor designed for one-handed operation
• Battery-powered operation suitable for extended mobile use

How to use

Power on the CIPHERLAB RS38 and configure wireless or wired synchronization settings according to your workflow. Use the integrated 2D imager to scan barcodes by aligning the target code in the viewfinder; the device decodes and stores the captured data in local memory. Run the required inventory or field application on the device, validate entries on-screen and synchronize collected records with your back-end system when network access is available.

Recommendations

For best results, maintain a charged spare battery or follow the manufacturer’s charging interval guidance. Keep the imager window clean to ensure reliable barcode decoding and configure scan sensitivity in the device software to match ambient lighting and barcode quality. Regularly back up local data to your central system to prevent data loss.
