The PLANET MC-1500R is a 19" 15-slot converter chassis that consolidates multiple media converters in a single rack-mountable unit. It supports a variety of PLANET media converter modules for Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet and VDSL2 applications, enabling up to 15 converters to be installed in a compact 19" housing (438 mm width, 200 mm depth, 103 mm height). The chassis is designed for structured fiber-optic wiring and simplified maintenance while supporting data rates of 1000 and 100 Mbit/s.

How to use

Mount the MC-1500R in a standard 19" rack and install PLANET media converter modules into the available bays. Connect the provided AC and -48V DC power supplies to the chassis; an additional optional redundant power module may be installed in the spare power slot for higher availability. Insert or remove converter modules while the chassis is powered as needed — each slot has independent power so hot-swapping modules does not interrupt other installed converters. Route fiber and copper connections to the installed converter modules per the converter module instructions.

Recommendations

Install the optional hot-swappable RPS module in environments where continuous operation is required. Ensure proper ventilation in the rack and follow grounding and cabling best practices to maintain signal integrity and reliable operation.
