The Club 3D CSV-1596 is a compact 6-in-1 USB Gen1 Type-C hub that expands a single Type-C/Thunderbolt host port into HDMI, Ethernet and multiple USB ports. It supports DP1.4 Alt Mode for HDMI video output up to 8K at 30Hz or 4K at 120Hz while simultaneously transferring USB 3.2 Gen 1 data at up to 5 Gbps. The hub includes two USB Type-A ports, two USB Type-C ports for data and PD charging, an HDMI output and a Gigabit RJ45 Ethernet port. It also supports PD 3.0 charging up to 100 W (15 W reserved for the hub’s operation; up to 85 W available for the host). How to use

Connect the hub’s USB Type-C male cable to a compatible Type-C host that supports DP Alt Mode. Attach an HDMI cable from the hub to an external display and select the appropriate input on the display. Plug USB devices into the Type-A or Type-C data ports and connect a network cable to the RJ45 port for wired Ethernet. If required, connect a USB Type-C PD charger to the hub’s Type-C power-in port to enable passthrough charging of the host; remember that the hub uses approximately 15 W and up to 85 W remains for the host.

Recommendations

Use with hosts that explicitly support DP Alt Mode over USB-C. For maximum video resolution and refresh rate, use high-quality HDMI cables and ensure the host GPU and display support the requested resolution. When charging high-power laptops, use a PD charger rated to provide the power your host requires plus the hub’s 15 W overhead.
