ACT 15 meter Multimode 50/125 OM4 Polarity Twist fiber cable with LC connectors

The ACT multimode fiber optic cable 50/125 OM4, 15 meters long with LC connectors, provides high-bandwidth connectivity for short- to medium-range network links. With a 50 µm core and OM4 modal bandwidth characteristics, the cable supports full duplex transmission and is intended for applications that require reliable, low-loss multimode performance. The 15 m length makes it suitable for inter-rack, equipment-to-equipment and patching scenarios commonly found in data centers and enterprise networks.

Advantages

This multimode OM4 cable offers increased modal bandwidth compared to earlier multimode standards, enabling higher data rates over the specified distance. The LC connectors provide a compact, duplex connection with consistent mating performance and low insertion loss. The 50/125 core-cladding dimensions deliver stable multimode propagation, while the 15 m length reduces the need for additional patching and minimizes potential splice points.

Suitable for

• Data center rack-to-rack connections
• Server-to-switch and switch-to-switch links
• High-performance enterprise networks and campus backbones
• Short- to medium-reach multimode fiber applications (up to the OM4 specified distances)

Key specifications

• Fiber type: Multimode OM4 (50/125 µm core/cladding)
• Length: 15 meters
• Connector type: LC duplex connectors
• Transmission: Full duplex multimode
• Typical application: Data center, enterprise network patching
• Performance: Designed for reduced modal dispersion and low insertion loss

How to use

Install the cable by aligning and inserting the LC connectors into compatible LC duplex ports on transceivers, switches or patch panels. Ensure connectors are clean before mating to avoid contamination-related attenuation. Route the cable following standard fiber management practices: avoid tight bends, secure the cable to prevent strain on the connectors, and keep it separate from high-power electrical cabling. For equipment requiring duplex connections, maintain correct polarity when connecting transmit and receive ports.

Recommendations

Inspect and clean LC connector endfaces with approved fiber cleaning tools prior to installation. Use cable ties or Velcro straps with appropriate slack to prevent microbends, and follow OM4 distance and transceiver compatibility guidelines when planning links to ensure expected bandwidth and transmission quality.
