InLine fiber optical simplex cable with LC/APC 8° to SC/APC 8° connectors is a 0.5 m single-mode patch cord designed for low-loss optical interconnection. The cable uses a 9/125 µm OS2 fiber core and an armoured 3.0 mm outer jacket for improved mechanical protection compared with extremely thin provider-supplied leads. Its APC 8° polished terminations and tested insertion/return loss characteristics make it suitable for FTTH, telecom equipment links and short link assemblies where reliable single-mode transmission is required.

Advantages

The armoured construction with a stainless-steel spiral tube increases resistance to crushing and accidental damage while preserving flexibility for indoor routing. An outer sheath made from halogen-free material and a neutral white colour enable unobtrusive installation in living spaces. Factory-tested optical performance with typical insertion loss below 0.20 dB and return loss better than 60 dB ensures predictable link behaviour for installers and network operators.

Suitable for

  • FTTH connections between the optical entry point and home gateway or modem
  • Patch panels and telecom equipment interconnects in racks or cabinets
  • Laboratory and test bench short links where single-mode OS2 fiber is required
  • Replacement or upgrade of thin, unarmoured provider-supplied drop cables

Key specifications

  • Fiber type: single-mode OS2, 9/125 µm core/cladding
  • Length: 0.5 m
  • Connector A: LC/APC 8° male
  • Connector B: SC/APC 8° male
  • Connector polish: APC (angled 8°)
  • Armoured cable outer diameter: approx. 3.0 mm
  • Outer sheath: halogen-free, white
  • Typical insertion loss: <0.20 dB
  • Maximum insertion loss (specified): <0.30 dB
  • Return loss: >60 dB
  • Operating temperature range: -40 °C to +85 °C

How to use

Connect the LC/APC end to the device or adapter with an LC receptacle and the SC/APC end to the patch panel, modem or adapter with an SC receptacle, ensuring both connectors seat fully and the angled APC faces are not contaminated. Avoid sharp bends and maintain the minimum bend radius recommended for 3.0 mm armoured cables when routing. If necessary, inspect connector endfaces with a microscope and clean with approved fiber cleaning tools before insertion to achieve the stated optical performance.

Recommendations

For long-term reliability in FTTH installations, use this armoured 3.0 mm drop cable where provider-supplied 1.6 mm lines are insufficient. Store and route the cable to avoid kinks, and perform optical loss testing after installation to verify insertion and return loss meet expected values.
