How to use

Install the RS1221RP+ into a compatible shallow-depth 2-post or standard rack and connect network and power. Configure storage volumes and RAID arrays using Synology DiskStation Manager, enable ECC and Btrfs features for data integrity, and set up backup tasks with Hyper Backup or Snapshot Replication. For higher availability, pair two identical units and enable Synology High Availability to allow automatic failover. Optionally install NVMe or SATA SSDs for caching and add a RX418 expansion unit if additional drive bays are needed.

Recommendations

Use redundant power distribution and UPS protection to maximize uptime; schedule regular snapshots and off-site backups via Hyper Backup or cloud destinations; enable SSD cache and 10GbE connectivity where higher I/O and lower latency are required.
