The Braun Photo Technik Black550 is a compact surveillance camera designed for day-and-night monitoring of wildlife, property and remote locations. Equipped with a 5 MP CMOS sensor, the camera records photos up to 24 MP and video up to 2.7K (2704 × 1520). It supports SD cards up to 256 GB and offers a micro‑USB connection for PC or TV review. The device is housed in a dust- and water‑protected enclosure (IP65) and can be mounted with the supplied strap. Operating temperatures range from -20 °C to +70 °C and power is provided by eight AA batteries or an optional 6V 1.5A power supply.

How to use

Install an SD card (max. 256 GB) and insert eight AA batteries or connect the optional 6V 1.5A power supply. Use the integrated control panel and 2" TFT display to set desired photo and video resolutions, PIR sensitivity and other parameters. Mount the camera securely using the supplied strap toward the area to be monitored, ensuring the PIR sensor has a clear detection path within its 120° field of view. Recordings can be viewed on the display or transferred to a PC via micro USB.

Recommendations

Place the camera at an appropriate height and angle for the intended target (animals or human movement), avoid pointing directly at dense foliage or reflective surfaces, and check battery and SD card status regularly. For prolonged deployments in wet conditions, ensure the housing seals are intact to maintain IP65 protection.
