Steam iron Philips DST8040/30 — 3000 W, 0.35 L tank, SteamGlide Elite soleplate, vertical steam

The Philips DST8040/30 is a steam iron engineered for efficient crease removal and everyday garment care. With a 3000 W heating element and the SteamGlide Elite soleplate, the iron heats quickly and provides even temperature distribution for consistent results. The 0.35 L water tank supports continuous steam output, while the vertical steam function lets you treat hanging garments and curtains without an ironing board. A 2.5 m cord offers extended reach for flexible use in different rooms.

Advantages

The SteamGlide Elite soleplate ensures smooth gliding across fabrics and contributes to uniform heat transfer, helping to reduce ironing time. High power (3000 W) delivers rapid heat-up and stable temperature under varying loads. The 0.35 L transparent water tank allows easy monitoring of the water level and supports sustained steam bursts for tougher creases. The vertical steam option adds versatility for steaming drapes, suits and delicate items without making contact. A long 2.5 m cord increases maneuverability and makes the appliance suitable for larger ironing surfaces.

Suitable for

• Daily garment ironing of shirts, trousers and blouses
• Removing deep creases from heavy fabrics
• Vertical steaming of curtains, jackets and hanging clothes
• Households needing a powerful, quick-heating steam iron

How to use

Fill the water tank with tap water up to the indicated level and securely close the water inlet. Plug the iron into a compatible socket and allow it to heat until the ready indicator shows the set temperature. Select the appropriate temperature setting for the fabric type, glide the iron across the garment with steady pressure, and apply steam bursts where creases are most persistent. For vertical steaming, hold the iron upright at a short distance from the fabric and use short steam pulses while smoothing the material by hand or with a hanger. Empty the tank and allow the appliance to cool before storing.

Recommendations

Use distilled or demineralised water in areas with hard water to minimise scale buildup. Regularly follow any descaling or cleaning steps recommended by the manufacturer to preserve steam output and soleplate glide. Always check garment care labels for the correct ironing temperature and test on an inconspicuous area for delicate fabrics.
