NETGEAR Orbi 970 Series Quad-Band WiFi 7, 2-Pack Quad-band (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz-1 / 5 GHz-2 / 6 GHz) Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) Grey 3 Internal

The NETGEAR Orbi 970 Series Quad-Band WiFi 7, 3-Pack is a mesh satellite set designed to extend high-speed home Wi‑Fi coverage. Each unit supports quad-band operation (2.4 GHz, two 5 GHz bands, and 6 GHz) and delivers combined WLAN throughput up to 11,530 Mbit/s. The system includes three grey internal-antenna satellites that provide wired connectivity options and are suitable for use with a compatible Orbi router to create a seamless whole-home network.

Advantages

This 3-pack offers quad-band Wi‑Fi 7 performance with high combined data rates, internal antennas for a compact appearance, and multiple Ethernet ports to support wired devices. The units have a 2.2 GHz processor, 2000 MB internal memory and 4000 MB flash for improved handling of multiple clients and features. Their dimensions and weight allow discreet placement around the home while providing strong throughput for demanding applications.

Suitable for

• Large homes and multi-level residences that need extended Wi‑Fi coverage
• Homes with many connected devices and high bandwidth use (4K/8K streaming, online gaming, video conferencing)
• Locations where wired backhaul or wired device connections (Ethernet) are required
• Indoor deployments where compact, internal-antenna units are preferred

When it may not be suitable

This 3-pack is intended as mesh satellites and requires a compatible Orbi router to form a complete system; it is not a standalone router. In smaller apartments or simple single-room setups the full capability may be unnecessary and a single-router solution could be more cost-effective.

Key specifications

• Wi‑Fi bands: Quad-band — 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz (two separate bands), 6 GHz
• Top Wi‑Fi standard supported: Wi‑Fi 6 (802.11ax)
• Maximum WLAN data transfer rate: 11,530 Mbit/s (combined)
• Processor frequency: 2.2 GHz
• Internal memory (RAM): 2000 MB
• Flash memory: 4000 MB
• Ethernet LAN ports per unit: 3 (RJ‑45)
• Colour: Grey
• Dimensions (W x D x H): 294 mm x 144.4 mm x 130.8 mm
• Weight per unit: 1.79 kg

How to use

Connect the satellites to a compatible Orbi router according to the manufacturer installation guide. Place satellites strategically to extend coverage — typically one per floor or near areas with weak signal. Use Ethernet ports to connect wired devices where required, or configure wireless backhaul if preferred. Manage network settings and firmware updates using the Orbi app or web interface for optimal performance.

What to consider before purchase

• Requires a compatible Orbi router to operate as a mesh system
• Assess home shape and square footage to determine the number of satellites needed
• Building materials (brick, concrete) may reduce wireless range and require additional units
• If outdoor coverage is needed, plan placement beyond the building footprint

Recommendations

For best results, position satellites to avoid large obstructions and consider wired backhaul where possible; add extra satellites for L- or U-shaped homes, large floor areas, or buildings with dense construction materials.
