How to use

Install AXIS S4000 1U in a standard 19-inch rack and connect the recorder to your network switch and cameras. Configure storage and RAID settings according to desired retention and redundancy through the integrated management interface or via AXIS Camera Station software. Use the AXIS Camera Station Edge or Pro to add cameras, set recording schedules (continuous or event-based), and manage user access. Ensure network and time synchronization settings are configured to maintain accurate timestamps for recorded video.

Recommendations

For reliable long-term recording, choose a RAID level that matches your redundancy needs and maintain regular backup and maintenance schedules. Use surveillance-grade HDDs and keep firmware and security patches up to date via AXIS OS updates. When deploying across multiple sites, leverage the recorder’s compatibility with AXIS Camera Station Edge and Pro to centralize management while retaining local storage to reduce network load.
