Advantages

AXIS S3008 Mk II provides reliable recording on a surveillance-grade hard drive and supports encrypted storage to protect recorded footage. The recorder offers gigabit uplink for high-bitrate video streams and PoE ports to power and connect up to eight devices directly. Integration with AXIS Companion and Axis Camera Station environments enables simple setup, management and scalable expansion of multi-site installations. The unit includes a USB port for local export of footage and is covered by a multi-year warranty for manufacturer support.

Suitable for

When it may not be suitable

This recorder has a maximum built-in storage capacity of 8 TB and is therefore not suitable for deployments that require larger on-device storage capacity without additional external storage solutions. Installations that need more than eight PoE-powered camera connections will require additional PoE switches or multiple recorders.

How to use

Connect up to eight compatible Axis IP cameras to the recorder’s PoE ports or to a PoE switch on the same network. Use AXIS Companion or AXIS Camera Station software for initial setup, camera discovery, recording configuration and user access management. Configure network settings for IPv4 or IPv6 as required, enable remote access via Axis Secure Remote Access if off-site viewing is needed, and set retention and recording schedules according to storage capacity and legal requirements. Export video files through the USB port or via network shares (CIFS/SMB) when local copies are required.

What to consider before purchase

Recommendations

For reliable long-term operation, use Axis-validated cameras and surveillance-grade network components, configure encrypted storage and user access controls, and plan retention periods against the 8 TB storage. Regularly verify firmware updates and perform scheduled backups or exports of critical footage.
