IP camera Hikvision DS-2CD1023G2-LIU 4mm PL — 2 MP, fixed 4 mm lens, PoE support

Hikvision DS-2CD1023G2-LIU 4mm PL is a 2 MP IP surveillance camera with a fixed 4 mm lens designed for general indoor and outdoor monitoring. The camera provides full IP connectivity and supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), enabling video transmission and power over a single network cable. It captures day/night video suitable for monitoring entrances, offices, retail areas and small sites, and its compact form factor allows wall or ceiling mounting.

Advantages

The camera offers a 2 MP image sensor and a fixed 4 mm lens that balance image detail and field of view for typical security monitoring scenarios. PoE support simplifies installation by eliminating the need for a separate power supply. The day/night functionality ensures usable images in varying light conditions, while the compact housing and IP-ready design make it suitable for discreet indoor installations or weather-protected outdoor placements.

Suitable for

• Entrance and lobby monitoring
• Small retail stores and point-of-sale areas
• Office spaces and meeting rooms
• Residential buildings and common areas
• Small commercial sites and warehouses with network access

Key specifications

• Image sensor resolution: 2 megapixels
• Fixed lens focal length: 4 mm
• Network connectivity: IP camera with Ethernet interface
• Power: supports Power over Ethernet (PoE)
• Video mode: day/night operation for low-light performance
• Mounting options: compact form factor for wall or ceiling installation

How to use

Install the camera at the chosen wall or ceiling location and connect it to the local network using an Ethernet cable. If using a PoE-capable switch or injector, the single cable will provide both power and data connectivity. Configure the camera through its web interface or supported video management software to set resolution, frame rate, network parameters and motion detection zones. Position and angle the fixed 4 mm lens to cover the intended scene, then verify live view and recording settings.

Recommendations

For reliable operation, mount the camera in a sheltered location if installed outdoors and ensure the network provides adequate bandwidth for continuous 2 MP video streams. Use PoE infrastructure that meets the device power requirements and secure camera access with strong administrative credentials and up-to-date firmware.
