The AXAGON PCES-SJ2 PCI-Express controller adds two internal SATA III (6 Gb/s) ports to desktop PCs, using the JMicron JMB582 chipset. It is compatible with PCI-Express x1 slots (also fits x4/x8/x16) and supports booting from connected drives. The card includes a standard bracket and a low-profile bracket for installation in both regular and slim PC cases.

How to use

Power off the PC and insert the AXAGON PCES-SJ2 into an available PCIe x1 (or x4/x8/x16) slot. Secure the bracket, connect internal SATA cables from the card to your drives, and attach power to the drives as required. On most operating systems the card is recognized automatically; if needed, install drivers provided by the OS or the manufacturer. Configure boot order in BIOS/UEFI when booting from a drive connected to this controller.

Recommendations

Use SATA III cables and connect SSDs to benefit from TRIM and NCQ features. When installing in compact cases, replace the standard bracket with the supplied low-profile bracket. Verify motherboard BIOS/UEFI settings if the connected drive does not appear as a boot option.
