The Avaya 700417439 Universal PRI Interface Card adds PRI trunk support to a compatible IP500 base card, available in single-port or dual-port variants. It installs in any IP500 base card except the IP500 Legacy Carrier card and the IP500 4-Port Expansion card, and provides physical trunk connections via ports 9 and 10 of the host IP500 base card. Ports 11 and 12 serve as test points for monitoring and test equipment for the adjacent port.

Advantages

The card supports multiple PRI line types (E1 PRI, E1R2 PRI, T1 robbed bit and T1 PRI) and allows line type selection in IP Office Manager. It integrates with the IP500 control unit and respects feature-key defaults (U-Law defaults to T1 PRI; A-Law defaults to E1 PRI). Licensing is flexible: each fitted IP500 PRI-U port has 8 unlicensed B-channels, and additional B-channels can be enabled with IP500 Universal PRI (Additional Channels) licenses up to the installed port capacity. How to use

Install the card into a supported IP500 base card (not compatible with IP500 Legacy Carrier or IP500 4-Port Expansion cards). Connect the external PRI trunks to the corresponding physical trunk ports on the host IP500 base card (ports 9 and 10). If required, connect test and monitoring equipment to ports 11 and 12 for the adjacent trunk. Use IP Office Manager to set or change the PRI line type by right-clicking the line icon and choosing Change Universal PRI Card Line Type, then select the required line type. Ensure the system feature key (U-Law or A-Law) and software level meet the default or required settings.

Recommendations

Verify software level 4.1 or higher and confirm feature-key (U-Law/A-Law) settings before installation. Plan licensing for required B-channels: the system provides 8 unlicensed B-channels per port and additional channels must be enabled with the appropriate IP500 Universal PRI (Additional Channels) licenses.
