Stable wired networks start with the right Ethernet patch cable
From short cabinet jumpers to long office runs, DistriNode brings together RJ45 patch cables for workstations, switches, routers, PoE cameras and server racks. Choose by category, shielding, length, jacket type and connector quality instead of guessing from colour alone.

How to Choose
Category & speed
Cat5e is practical for 1 Gb networks; Cat6 gives more headroom; Cat6a is the safer choice for 10 Gb links and demanding structured cabling.
Shielding & environment
U/UTP works in normal offices, while F/UTP, S/FTP and PiMF designs help reduce interference near power lines, racks or dense bundles.
Length & installation
Use the shortest cable that reaches cleanly without tension. In racks, cable management, bend radius and labelling matter as much as cable category.
PoE & jacket quality
For PoE cameras, access points and phones, prefer copper conductors, reliable RJ45 boots and LSZH jackets where fire safety matters.

Buying tip: Match the cable category to the whole channel: switch port, network card, patch panel and wall socket. A Cat6a patch lead cannot create 10 Gb if the rest of the channel is Cat5e.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Cat6 better than Cat5e for everyday networks?
Cat6 offers more headroom and better noise handling, so it is usually the safer new-install choice. Cat5e is still fine for many short 1 Gb office links.
Do I need shielded Ethernet cables?
Use shielded cables near power, industrial equipment or dense rack bundles. For standard desk-to-switch connections, unshielded UTP is often easier and adequate.
Can Ethernet patch cables be used for PoE devices?
Yes, but quality matters. For PoE cameras, access points and phones, use properly rated copper network cables, especially on longer runs.
