Docking station Lenovo ThinkPad Ultra Dock 90W (model 40A20090DE) EU — universal port expansion for ThinkPad laptops

The Lenovo ThinkPad Ultra Dock 90W is a universal docking station designed to expand connectivity for compatible ThinkPad laptops. It provides 90W power delivery to charge the laptop while offering multiple ports for external displays, peripherals and wired network access. The dock consolidates cables into a single connection, simplifying workstation setup for office and home environments and enabling quick transition between mobile and desktop workflows.

Advantages

The docking station delivers consistent 90W power delivery to support laptop charging and maintain battery level during heavy workloads. Multiple video outputs and USB ports allow connection of monitors, keyboards, mice and storage devices without repeated plugging and unplugging. A dedicated Ethernet port ensures reliable wired network performance, and the compact footprint helps keep desks organized. The device is engineered to maintain compatibility with a range of ThinkPad models that support the dock interface.

Suitable for

• Office workstations that require multiple monitors and wired networking
• Home offices where quick docking and single-cable connections are needed
• Users who frequently switch between laptop mobility and a fixed desktop setup
• Environments that need reliable power delivery and peripheral expansion

Key specifications

• Power delivery: up to 90W to charge compatible laptops and support operation under load
• Video outputs: multiple display outputs for connecting external monitors (support depends on host laptop capabilities)
• USB connectivity: several USB ports for peripherals and external storage
• Network: Gigabit Ethernet port for wired network access
• Form factor: compact desktop dock designed for stable placement alongside a workstation

How to use

Connect the dock to a compatible ThinkPad laptop using the docking interface or included cable, then attach external monitors, USB peripherals and an Ethernet cable as required. Plug the dock into mains power to enable the 90W power delivery function and charge the laptop while connected. Configure display settings and peripheral preferences within the operating system as needed; external display resolution and multi-monitor arrangements depend on the laptop’s graphics capabilities and operating system support.

Recommendations

Use the dock on a stable, level surface and connect one monitor at a time when first setting up to verify display detection. For consistent charging and performance, use the provided power adapter and ensure the host laptop firmware and drivers are up to date. If you plan to connect multiple high-resolution displays, confirm the laptop’s supported display modes and available bandwidth to achieve desired resolutions and refresh rates.
