Description

The Metabo MFE 40 is a wall chaser: a twin-disc cutter for running parallel grooves into brick, block or plaster so that conduit and cable can be chased in before plastering. It takes 125 mm discs and is supplied with two, cutting a channel of adjustable width up to 30 mm and adjustable depth from 10 mm to 40 mm, driven by a 1900 W motor with 1120 W rated output at 4200 RPM.

Who it is for: electricians and plumbers doing first-fix work, and renovators who would rather cut a clean slot than hammer one out. Have dust extraction ready before you start, as chasing produces a lot of dust, and note the listed sound power level of 104 dB (93 dB sound pressure), which calls for hearing protection.

Mains powered, 220–240 V, 50–60 Hz, with a 4 m cable
Restart protection after a power interruption
Torque up to 6 N·m
Two 125 mm discs included

Key specifications

Disc diameter: 12.5 cm
Rated speed: 4200 RPM
Nominal input power: 1900 W
Rated output power: 1120 W
Maximum cutting depth: 1 cm
Power supply: AC mains
Includes two cutting discs

How to use

Before use, install one of the supplied discs according to the manufacturer's mounting instructions and secure the guard. Connect the machine to a suitable AC power outlet. Position the cutter so the disc meets the workpiece at the intended cutting line, apply steady forward pressure and maintain a controlled feed speed to avoid overloading the motor. Allow the tool to reach full speed before engaging the material and follow safe cutting distances from edges and fixtures. After cutting, switch off power and allow the disc to stop completely before setting the tool down.

Recommendations

Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection and gloves. Select the disc type suitable for the material being cut to maximize disc life and cutting quality. Avoid prolonged continuous operation to prevent overheating; allow cooling periods during extended use and inspect discs for wear or damage before each session.
