The BlueOptics CAB-SMF-LC-SC-0.5-BO InfiniBand fibre optic cable is a 0.5 m single-mode patch cable designed for short interconnects and high-speed data transmission. It uses G.657.A1 laser-optimized fibre and features an LC/UPC connector on one end and an SC/UPC connector on the other, enabling full-duplex optical links. The cable is suitable for connecting transceivers, patch panels and InfiniBand equipment where a short, low-loss single-mode connection is required.

Advantages

This cable combines a laser-optimized G.657.A1 single-mode fibre with precision LC and SC connectors to provide low attenuation and high return loss. The cable is manufactured with a flame-retardant LSZH sheath to reduce harmful emissions in case of fire. Components are selected from established manufacturers and the connector ferrules are zirconia ceramic designed for long mating life and reliable optical contact. Each cable is tested with interferometry and OTDR and supplied with measured input loss and return loss values.

How to use

Inspect connectors and ports for dust before connection and, if necessary, clean with appropriate fibre cleaning tools. Align the LC and SC connectors with the corresponding ports and insert until a secure click or seating is achieved. Use the 0.5 m length for short patching runs inside racks or between adjacent equipment bays. Avoid tight bends and maintain the cable's minimum bend radius to prevent excess attenuation or damage to the fibre.

Recommendations

Store and route the cable in rack trays or cable managers to avoid sharp bends; keep connectors protected with dust caps when not in use and follow manufacturer cleaning procedures. For critical links, verify insertion loss and return loss after installation using appropriate test equipment and keep the supplied measurement protocol with asset records.
