Audio interface Tascam US-42B MiniStudio-Series 4-in/4-out USB, 24-bit, 96 kHz, USB-powered

Tascam US-42B MiniStudio-Series is a compact 4-in/4-out USB audio interface designed for desktop recording, podcasting and streaming. It supports 16- and 24-bit resolution and sample rates up to 96 kHz, delivering up to 100 dB signal-to-noise ratio. The unit is USB bus powered and includes two XLR/TRS combo inputs, a 3.5 mm mic jack, RCA outputs, a 6.35 mm headphone output and Micro-USB/USB-B connectivity, making it suitable for home studio setups and mobile recording with minimal desktop footprint.

Advantages

The interface offers multiformat sample rates and bit depths (16/24-bit, up to 96 kHz) and a measured SNR of 100 dB for clear recordings. USB bus power removes the need for an external power supply and typical power consumption is low (about 2.5 W). Multiple input and output types (combo XLR/TRS, 3.5 mm mic jack, RCA, 6.35 mm headphone) provide flexible connectivity for microphones, instruments and monitoring. Its compact dimensions and lightweight design make it easy to place on a desktop or transport between locations.

Suitable for

• Home studio recording
• Podcasting and voiceover
• Live streaming and remote broadcasting
• Small-band or solo instrument recording

How to use

Connect the US-42B to a computer or compatible iOS device using the included USB cable (USB-B or Micro-USB as required). Install or configure the audio driver if the host operating system requires it, then select the Tascam interface as the input/output device in your recording or streaming software. Plug microphones or instruments into the combo XLR/TRS inputs and the 3.5 mm mic jack as needed; connect monitoring headphones to the 6.35 mm output and route line-level outputs via RCA to external speakers or mixers. Adjust input gain and software levels to avoid clipping while maintaining sufficient signal.

Recommendations

Store the interface away from direct heat sources and open flame. For best audio performance, use quality shielded cables and set sample rate/bit depth in your software to match project requirements; keep the device within the specified operating temperature range (5 °C–35 °C).
