Recommendations

Although ISO/IEC and TIA standards typically specify 22–26 AWG for patch cords, this 28 AWG slimline cable has higher attenuation at higher frequencies; ACT therefore recommends using shorter permanent link lengths compared with standard 24 AWG cords. In PoE deployments limit bundle sizes (maximum recommended 24 cables) to reduce temperature rise — current guidance (ANSI TSB-184-A) limits the temperature increase in the centre cable to less than 15 °C above ambient.
