The ACT Grey 1.5m LSZH U/UTP CAT6 patch cable is a slimline Ethernet cable designed for data centre and structured cabling environments. With a 1.5 metre length, snagless RJ45 connectors and gold-plated contacts, this CAT6 U/UTP cable offers reliable connectivity while its reduced diameter improves airflow in equipment cabinets.

Advantages

Compared with standard CAT6 patch cords, the slimline 3.8 mm diameter reduces bundle bulk and allows a smaller bending radius, which helps improve cabinet airflow. The LSZH jacket minimises smoke and toxic emissions in the event of a fire. Snagless RJ45 plugs and gold-plated contacts provide secure mating and corrosion-resistant signal transfer. Note that the 28 AWG conductor used in slimline designs increases attenuation at higher frequencies compared with typical 24 AWG cords.

How to use

Connect one RJ45 plug to your switch, patch panel or network device and the other to the corresponding port on the target device. Route the cable following existing cable management paths, avoiding sharp bends and kinks to preserve the reduced bending radius. For best performance, keep the cable runs within recommended lengths for CAT6 and maintain proper terminations at both ends.

Recommendations

The slimline 28 AWG design produces higher attenuation than standard 24 AWG cords, particularly at higher frequencies; ACT therefore recommends shorter permanent link lengths when used in structured links. In PoE deployments, limit bundles to a maximum of 24 cables to help control temperature rise inside the bundle, keeping the centre-cable temperature increase below the recommended 15 °C above ambient per current guidance (ANSI TSB-184-A).
