TP-Link VIGI C230 Dome IP security camera Indoor & outdoor 2304 x 1296 pixels Ceiling

The TP-Link VIGI C230 Dome is a 3MP full-color IP security camera (2304 x 1296) designed for indoor and outdoor ceiling installation. It delivers clear, colorful footage even in very low light thanks to a large-aperture lens, high-sensitivity sensor and built-in supplemental lighting. The camera supports wired Ethernet connectivity, offers a wide field of view and a vandal-resistant, weatherproof dome housing for continuous monitoring in demanding environments.

Advantages

The camera provides 3MP resolution and color monitoring at night, combined with SmartVid video enhancement technologies such as Smart IR, WDR and 3D DNR to improve image clarity. Built-in AI enables human and vehicle classification and multiple smart detection types (boundary crossing, area intrusion, tampering, and object removal/abandonment). It includes a built-in microphone with approximately 15 ft (4.5 m) pickup range, supports PoE or 12V DC power, and compresses video efficiently to reduce bandwidth and storage use. The unit meets IK10 vandal-proof and IP67 waterproofing standards for reliable outdoor use.

Suitable for

• Retail stores and small businesses requiring 24/7 color surveillance
• Offices and lobbies mounted on ceilings for wide-area coverage
• Entrances, corridors and parking areas needing human/vehicle detection
• Outdoor sheltered locations where vandal and weather resistance is required

How to use

Mount the dome camera on a ceiling using the provided fittings and route the network cable through the side outlet or into a dropped ceiling to conceal wiring. Connect the camera to your network switch or NVR using an Ethernet cable; use PoE for single-cable power and data or connect a 12V DC supply if PoE is not available. Configure the device via the web UI, NVR interface, VIGI app, or VIGI Security Manager to set resolution, detection rules (human/vehicle classification, boundary/area alarms), audio recording and storage preferences.

Recommendations

Install the camera at a height and angle that maximizes coverage of entry points and aisles while avoiding direct exposure to strong lights that can reduce image quality. Use PoE when possible to simplify installation and ensure continuous power. Regularly verify detection rules and check recordings to confirm correct behavior and timely alerts.
