The LA-EA5 supports all A-mount lenses5, including models such as the Sonnar T* 135mm F1.8 ZA and Planar T* 85mm F1.4 ZA that do not have internal motors. Full support is provided for focal plane phase-detection AF, Real-time Eye AF (human & animal), Real-time Tracking, and continuous AF/AE tracking3 at up to 11 frames per second4. Compact cylindrical design and comfortable operation
A newly developed compact AF drive unit and aperture drive unit are packaged in a sleek, high-performance cylindrical mount adapter. The adapter matches the diameter of the A-mount so that nothing protrudes from the bottom of the mount when used on a compact E-mount body, ensuring comfortable hold and operation even when the camera is mounted on a vertical grip.

How to use

Attach the LA-EA5 to an E-mount camera body by aligning the adapter mount and locking it into place, then mount the A-mount lens onto the adapter until it clicks. Power on the camera and confirm in the camera menu that lens and AF functions are recognized; use the camera’s autofocus settings to select Real-time Eye AF or Real-time Tracking when available. For continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking, enable the appropriate drive mode on the camera and select a compatible shutter speed and exposure settings.
