Rotary level Bosch GRL 400 H 400 m range 0.08 mm/m accuracy

The Bosch GRL 400 H is a rotary level designed for construction and surveying tasks that require long-range, high-precision levelling. With a maximum working range of 400 m and levelling accuracy of ±0.08 mm/m, this instrument combines distance capability with fine accuracy. It features a 5/8" tripod thread, IP56 protection class and runs on a 1.5 V battery, making it suitable for outdoor use in variable conditions.

Advantages

The rotary level offers a long 400 m range while maintaining an accuracy of ±0.08 mm/m, supporting precise horizontal control over large sites. Its self-levelling mechanism covers up to ±5° to speed up setup. The IP56 rating protects against dust and strong water jets, and a standard 5/8" tripod thread ensures compatibility with most professional tripods. Battery operation provides portability and straightforward field use.

Suitable for

• Construction site levelling
• Large-area surveying and layout
• Setting horizontal reference lines for infrastructure work
• Outdoor projects requiring weather-resistant instruments

How to use

Place the rotary level on a compatible tripod using the 5/8" thread and position it roughly level. Power the device with a 1.5 V battery and allow the self-levelling mechanism to stabilise within its ±5° range. Rotate the instrument to establish reference lines or use with suitable receivers and targets to extend measurement capability across the full 400 m range. Verify readings against known benchmarks and follow standard surveying procedures for stakeout or layout work.

Recommendations

For best results, use the Bosch GRL 400 H with a stable tripod and check the device's level periodically. Protect the unit from prolonged exposure to heavy rain despite its IP56 rating, and replace batteries before extended jobs to maintain consistent operation.
