How to use

Install hard drives and optional M.2 NVMe SSDs in the drive bays and M.2 slots, connect the NAS to your network via the 2.5GbE ports or by installing a PCIe network card, and power on the device. Use QNAP’s initialization wizard to install QTS or QuTS hero depending on whether you prioritize compatibility or ZFS data integrity. Configure storage pools and enable SSD caching or Qtier auto tiering in Storage & Snapshots Manager to optimize performance. Install additional PCIe cards if you need 10GbE networking, Fibre Channel, or a supported GPU for accelerated tasks. Use File Station for secure file management and Hyper Data Protector for VM backup tasks.

Recommendations

For virtualization, databases, or environments with frequent random I/O, install M.2 NVMe SSDs and enable SSD caching or Qtier. If data integrity and inline data reduction are priorities for business data, choose QuTS hero. To increase network throughput beyond 2.5GbE, add a compatible 5GbE/10GbE PCIe adapter or use a Multi‑Gig switch supporting NBASE‑T and existing CAT5e cabling.
