The single element design gives up to 5 degrees of soft light attenuation while adding a mild glow around highlights, suitable for portraits, landscapes and video work where smoother motion and controlled contrast are needed. The filter is compatible with the Real Locking VND/CPL system so it can be used alone or together with variable neutral density and polarizing elements.

How to use

Attach the filter by pressing the side tabs of the Real Locking system and clipping the filter into the base ring or compatible holder. Use the filter alone for mild diffusion and a 5-stop reduction, or combine it with your VND/CPL elements to increase total darkening while keeping polarization control. Store the filter in the supplied shockproof case when not in use and clean the optical surfaces with the provided cloth.

Recommendations

For portraits and video in bright light, use the Black Mist 1/4 to reduce specular highlights and create smoother skin tones. When shooting long exposures or in very bright conditions, pair the filter with the Real Locking VND to reach higher ND values while maintaining the ability to control reflections with a CPL.
