Masking tape 3M 3M-201E 36 mm x 50 m — general-purpose painter's tape

3M 3M-201E masking tape, 36 mm x 50 m, is a general-purpose painter's tape designed for indoor surface protection and creating clean paint lines. The tape combines easy application with controlled adhesion to help achieve sharp edges and simplify preparation and cleanup when painting walls, trim, or furniture. Its width and roll length make it suitable for both detailed jobs and routine masking tasks.

Advantages

The tape provides consistent adhesion that sticks well to a variety of indoor surfaces while allowing removal without leaving significant residue when removed within recommended timeframes. Its backing material conforms to contours and corners for precise edge control. The roll size balances usability and economy, reducing the need to change rolls frequently during typical painting projects.

Key specifications

How to use

Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free of dust or grease before applying the tape. Unroll the required length, press the tape firmly along the edge to create a seal, and smooth it down to prevent paint bleed. Apply paint as needed and allow it to dry to the manufacturer's recommended tack-free time. For best results remove the tape slowly at a low angle while the paint is dry or slightly tacky to minimize edge lifting.

Recommendations

Use the tape on interior surfaces such as painted plaster, wood trim, glass and metal. Avoid prolonged outdoor exposure or use on delicate wallpapers unless tested first. For clean removal, do not exceed the recommended dwell time and remove slowly to reduce residue. If residue appears, remove it with a mild adhesive remover or soapy water.
