How to use

Install the DGS-1210-52 in a standard 19-inch rack using the supplied mounting brackets. Connect network devices to the Gigabit RJ-45 ports and power on the unit. For initial configuration, run the SmartConsole Utility to discover switches on the network and assign IP addresses, or access the Web Management interface via a browser. Use SNMP or the CLI for advanced automation and integration with existing network management systems. Apply VLANs, Auto Surveillance VLAN (ASV) and Auto Voice VLAN where required to prioritise surveillance and voice traffic.

Recommendations

For best results, keep switch firmware up to date and use SmartConsole for batch operations. Apply time-profile-based energy settings and PoE scheduling on PoE-capable models to reduce power consumption during off hours. Use 802.1X and ACL policies to restrict unauthorized access and enable ARP spoofing prevention and DHCP Server Screening to protect against common network attacks.
