What is the difference between MAKITA 18V LXT and 40V XGT?
18V LXT is MAKITA's mature, widest platform with hundreds of tools — ideal for general trade, carpentry and maintenance. 40V XGT is the next-generation high-power platform designed to replace corded tools in demanding applications such as large angle grinders (230 mm), concrete vibrators and industrial sprayers. Batteries between platforms are not interchangeable without an adapter.
Are MAKITA accessories (drill bits, blades) compatible with other brands' tools?
MAKITA accessories use standard arbour and shank sizes (SDS-Plus, SDS-Max, 1/4-inch hex) so they fit most competing power tools of the same type. However, MAKITA accessories are calibrated to MAKITA motor speeds and torque profiles, so performance is best when matched with MAKITA tools.
