How to use

Attach the lens to a compatible Sony E-mount camera and ensure it is properly locked. Use the maximum aperture (f/1.8) for shallow depth of field and low-light situations; stop down toward f/5.6–f/11 for greater depth of field and increased sharpness across the frame. Enable the camera’s OSS functionality if required — the lens also contains Optical SteadyShot to reduce camera shake for handheld photos and videos. For autofocus, half-press the shutter or use the camera’s AF controls; switch to manual focus on the camera body if fine control is needed.

Recommendations

For portraits, position the subject several metres from the background and use the f/1.8 aperture to create pronounced background separation. Use a 49 mm UV or protective filter to protect the front element and keep the lens cap on when not in use.
