The Bixolon XD5-40d is a compact 4-inch (118 mm) direct thermal desktop label and barcode printer designed for mid-level industrial and commercial labelling tasks. With a clamshell design and enhanced memory (up to 256 MB SDRAM and 256 MB Flash), the XD5-40d delivers print speeds up to 178 mm/sec (7 ips) at a 203 x 203 dpi resolution. It supports multiple media types and is available with optional accessories such as a peeler, auto cutter and external paper supply. How to use

Install the XD5-40d on a stable surface and load direct thermal label roll into the clamshell mechanism according to the user manual, adjusting the paper guide for the media width. Configure desired media type so Smart Media Detection™ can correctly identify Gap, Black Mark, Continuous or Notch formats. Connect the printer to a host via USB, Ethernet or optional wireless/serial interfaces and install compatible drivers or software such as Label Artist-II™ or BarTender®.
