The MOBOTIX MOVE 5MP Indoor Micro Dome Camera (Mx-MD1A-5-IR) is a compact ceiling-mount IP security camera offering 2720 x 1976 (approximately 5 MP) resolution with a fixed 2.8 mm lens and IR illumination. Designed with a small but robust 3-axis gimbal, the fixed lens can be angled during installation to achieve the desired field of view even from less favourable positions. The camera uses a CMOS sensor and a WDR engine to produce high-quality video with improved detail in challenging lighting conditions such as receptions, hallways and staircases.

How to use

Mount the dome to a ceiling or sheltered soffit and adjust the 3-axis gimbal to set the fixed 2.8 mm lens angle for the required field of view. Connect the camera to a PoE-capable Ethernet switch or a compatible power and network source for data and power. Configure network settings and video parameters (resolution, WDR, IR, frame rate) via the Mobotix MOVE management interface or your network video recorder. Position the camera to avoid direct strong light sources in the frame to optimize WDR performance.

Recommendations

For best image detail in mixed lighting, enable WDR and use IR illumination when ambient light falls below the specified minimum. Use wired Ethernet with PoE for reliable power and data transmission, and perform lens angle adjustments during installation to minimise post-installation repositioning.
