The Newland FM3080 Hind is a compact fixed barcode reader from the FM30 series, designed for reliable 1D and 2D barcode capture in kiosks, POS terminals and other fixed installations. Equipped with Newland's sixth-generation UIMG® technology and a CMOS sensor, the FM3080 Hind handles on-screen barcodes and high-density codes while offering wired USB connectivity, low power consumption and IP65 protection against dust and water.

How to use

Install the FM3080 Hind in a fixed position within the kiosk or at the POS so the scanning window faces the expected presentation area. Connect the device via the wired USB interface to the host system and ensure power is supplied (5 V). Present barcodes—including on-screen codes—within the scanner's field of view; the IR and light sensors will detect the presence of a barcode and trigger the scan. Configure the device using the vendor's setup tools to adjust illumination color, decode preferences and any required symbology settings.

Recommendations

For reliable on-screen reads, enable the anti-reflection option and choose a scan-window illumination color that contrasts with the device surroundings. Keep the glass surface clean and ensure the scanner is mounted to minimize ambient glare and direct reflections from external light sources.
